I was using Google Gears on Firefox 2.x long time ago until a Google Gears developer broke some codes that crash with Firefox. And after upgraded to WordPress 2.8, I did not see the ‘Turbo’ sign anymore. I thought Google Gears is still not ready for Firefox 3.5 yet. Haha… I was wrong. The option to turn on Google Gears is at the WordPress Tools section all the while (I don’t even notice there are ‘Tools’ section until I read from a plugin readme 
).
Okay, what is Gears? Gears is an open source browser extension that lets developers create web applications that can run offline. Gears provides three key features like…
- A local server, to cache and serve application resources (HTML, JavaScript, images, etc.) without needing to contact a server
- A database, to store and access data from within the browser
- A worker thread pool, to make web applications more responsive by performing expensive operations in the background
Your blogging time will be shortening with this Google Gears enabled. It will cut short the loading time, but you still need time to think what to write and type. Try it and believe it. 
Yeah… I always want to install WordPress comment reply plugin but don’t have threaded comments enabled at my theme last time. But I can install it after modified my theme to support threaded comments. So what does this comment reply plugin do? As the name, it will send email when someone replies to your comment. This is great for discussion. And will bring some return traffic too.

There is lot of WordPress comment reply plugin like WordPress Thread Comment, Comment Reply Notification, replyMail… The one that I am using is replyMail. It is a really nice plugin. But still can be improved. I will change the output to a better one as some of the email client like Yahoo Mail does not work well with it.
Do you change Google Webmaster Tools crawl rate? Increase or decrease its speed? Don’t increase it if you don’t have fast web server like the one that I use ~ HostMonster. Hehe. Just kidding. But by increase the crawl rate, Googlebot will visit your website more. Therefore, do make sure that your web server can manage that.
Google Webmaster Tools custom crawl rate will last for 90 days only. And you need to reconfigure it again then. For my case, I will need to update it on 19 January 2010. I missed around 2 weeks as the custom crawl rate expired on early this month.
What will faster crawl rate does? More pages will be indexed in Google search database. So do you want to increase Google Webmaster Tools crawl rate?

Display related posts are a must. It will keep visitors a longer time at your website. If visitors can’t find anything interesting them anymore, they will leave. So we need to optimise the UI layout to meet the need of visitors.
WordPress related post plugin can display random posts or most commented posts if no related post is found. And it can display related posts with thumbnail too. And other nice features…
