Only 28 days for year 2010. And online income which counts by day also got affected. Anyway, my blogs’ income is stable. Or should I say traffic. I took 1 week off during Chinese New Year holidays to Johor, Malaysia. Did not blog anything at all. However, the daily traffic and earning does not reduce much (or at all). Traffic was low (dropped 15%) on 1st day of Chinese New Year as most of us were celebrating the big event including me.

I told myself long time ago. Write 1 article at least each day. I manage to do so on Pretty Girl 2u only. Why? No brain is needed on PrettyGirl2u articles. I just need to find, edit the girls’ photos and schedule to post them. So I get lot of money from it? Nope, easy tasks == low return.

Writing quality, current trend, popular keywords articles do help to bring more traffic. For example, Dell UltraSharp U2410 Review post. I knew that I am going to get some traffic based on this review. So I bought this monitor on September 2009. By the way, it is not cheap ~ RM1799. 200+ page views in the first 2 weeks. Around 150 page views after that and getting 100 page views nowadays. Finally, total 21,986 page views as at now.

It took me several days to write this article. I need to run lot of testings. But it is worth the effort based on the return. However, you will get the same traffic or even more sometime with less effort if your keywords are matched to the current searching trend. Never stop get updated with latest info and knowledge. You will get more in return when you are in the front end of the technology. ;)

Somebody was trying to sabotage me by clicking lot of the ads. I had no choice and enable own domains to be counted in Google AdSense only. However, I discovered that it was not a perfect move. Yes, it does stop the sabotage act but it also reduces my Google AdSense earning. Why?

Okay, not every visitor will come to your website directly. For example, a visitor translated your website using Google Translate. Google AdSense does not detect your website address but Google Translate address. Therefore, the earning is not counted there. Besides Google AdSense, Nuffnang also use that method to display its ads. But we can’t do anything here.

Getting RM 2,000 per month is hard. Getting RM 3,000 is even harder. How much visitors per day should I need in order to get RM 4,000 per month? I checked Google Analytics traffic and the earning for the pass few months.

RM 500 == 500 visitors
RM 800 == 1,500 visitors
RM 1,200 == 2,300 visitors
RM 1,900 == 3,300 visitors
RM 4,000 == ?? visitors

So RM 4,000 only needs around 7,000 visitors, right? Not exactly but it is near I think. The earning does not come in this way. Google AdSense and Infolinks depend on keyword rate, CTR, articles and visitors behavior while Innity, Nuffnang and ADSDAQ depend on ad inventories. To be safe, my target…

RM 5000 == 10,000 visitors.

Here come another question… How long will I need in order to get 10,000 visitors per day?

I put up RSS feed email subscribe again at better location where reader can’t miss it. Got a few new subscribers after that. And removed underperformed Google AdSense link ads. There were lot of clicks but very less revenue generated from it. By removing, the clicks moved to Google AdSense Large Rectangle ads ~ gained a little bit more earning there. And Infolinks ads clicks increased too.

Never be afraid to try something new on your blog layout. We learn from mistakes and improve there.

How to avoid Google AdSense click fraud? I also don’t know. But I took below steps to avoid it.

  • Remove the ad code.
  • Set my own domains on Allowed Sites only.

Why remove the ad code? That guy clicked on Large Rectangle – top channel ad on JayceOoi.com root level. Based on Google Analytics, that ad only brings less than USD 3 in 1 month. Removed it is a good decision. No use to put it there as it wastes space.

Set own domains on Allowed Sites also will help to reduce your Google AdSense code being used by others to do evil thing ~ click fraud sabotage. All the other domains that using your ad code will be ignore by Google. Therefore, all the worry will be gone.

No payment (or delay payment) makes me thinking of Advertlets. Advertlets is still not paying bloggers nowadays. And getting payment from Advertlets is a tough task. You need to write blog post to ask for your payment like I did. Else you will end up getting nothing.

Remember… More traffic will bring more revenue. ;)

Only the strong will survive. Every advertising company earning is increasing. But Nuffnang earning does not match to increasing traffic. I am thinking of dumping Nuffnang from the list. And will use existing Nuffnang ad placements (top header, before comment and sidebar) for direct advertiser. These locations are good and should bring more income to me if I sell them directly. Google AdSense broke its all time high again ~ the highest earning that I got for Google AdSense on January 2009. Looking forward to break US$ 200 record.

Infolinks had a very good first week result ~ US$ 0.73 daily average. Earning started to slowdown after the first week then. And I got US$ 0.49 daily average in the end. Infolinks earning almost double when compare to Kontera (US$ 0.26 daily average). This is a better in-text advertising that I had. Any in-text advertising company better than Infolinks?

He said that he could get 165 results while I got 1 only. I retested and still got 1 result back. He was so good that he called AdsBlackList.com and discovered that it was a bug in Firefox. Finally, I got 88 results in the end.

I started using the 88 lists generated by AdsBlackList.com on 11 April. I used the keywords on the most clicks page. I usually got around 20 to 40 clicks on that page along. I should get lot of earning by using the list from AdsBlackList.com, right? No, not really. I checked Google Analytics. I still see US$0.01 per click. Below is the first half of April earning from Google AdSense.

No real increase in the earning. And I got 2 days of lower than average performance. So what did I do? I removed the lists from Google AdSense Competitive Ad Filter.

No. I did not block any website ads from showing at my blogs. And I got some of the very low paying ads like $0.01 per click. Some of them don’t even have value (invalid click I think). I searched around with Google and found out a website ~ AdsBlackList that will list out 200 low paying website URL. You need paste these URLs at Google AdSense Competitive Ad Filter. By doing so, you should able to block low paying rate ads, right?

Without further ado, I headed to AdsBlackList.com to generate the lists. Oh, I need to register first in order to use the service and I can only generate 50 URLs on free account. Well, at least I got 50 out of 200 URLs. After created an account, I keyed in my website URL, title and 20 keywords. Huh? How does AdsBlackList going to generate the low paying rate ads URL? After testing awhile, I discovered that it use the keywords that I put to generate the URL list. And it can only generate 1 URL with my keywords. Premier member should be able to get more URL, right? Ya, ya… You will get 1 only too.

Does this AdsBlackList really work? Well, I don’t think so. Google AdSense will assign ads based on the keywords on every single page. And these pages will have different keywords. By putting low paying rate URLs in Competitive Ad Filter list will not do the trick. I tried AdsBlackList. Is it a useful tool? NO. It is useless for me.

Woo… The earning still better than previous month even without Nuffnang earning. Google AdSense and ADSDAQ helped to push the earning by performing better.
